Dorian’s Parlor Celebrates One Year

June 14, 2011 – Philadelphia, PA – When Dorian’s Parlor opened its doors one year ago it was the first venture of its kind on the east coast. Today it is a household name for those who love Steampunk and all things neo-vintage. Throughout the past year Dorian’s Parlor has showcased a fantastic roster of award winning and incredible performers, bands, artists and fashion designers. Now the event celebrates its one year anniversary by tossing the biggest and best party ever, and this is one you do not want to miss.
We are honored to have the exclusive release event for G. D. Falksen, Dorian’s Parlor’s own beloved MC, and his debut novel “Blood In The Skies,” a fast-paced Steampunk adventure story set in a world of excitement, danger, and aviation. It is penned by G. D. Falksen with fantastic illustrations. We are lucky to offer you not only the first glance at this great book but also the privilege of hearing a reading by the author done in a classic radioland performance style.
With such incredible music acts as the immortal and world famous Voltaire and Dorian’s Parlor darling This Way to the Egress, whose debut album releases soon, this month offers an unbeatable value in an unparalleled upscale and intimate venue. We are also honored and very fortunate to have fashion designer Anthony Canney, head of the design house The House of Canney, who has traveled half way across the country to show you his latest designs on gorgeous models in our anniversary fashion show. We are also excited to have HVBRIS joining us, spinning fire outside for our enjoyment.
And that's not all. We have dozens of one-of-a-kind venders eager to sell you their great wares, performers yet to be named, hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, and one of the best DJs out there, DJ Dave Ghoul, spinning song after song to keep you dancing the night away. There will be a vintage style photo booth to capture your evening’s finery, and a mountain of door prizes and giveaways from such places as Hello Kitty, Wildside Press, Retroscope Fashions, Steampunk Tales and many more all just for you. You will not want to miss the event that surely will be touted as one of the best parties of the year. All aspects of the event’s production — lighting, sound, stage design and production management — are provided by Philadelphia’s own CircuitSix, LLC (www.circuitsix.biz) as part of their ongoing sponsorship and patronage of Dorian's Parlor.
The next 21+ event will be held Saturday, July 16th, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., in the Ormandy Ballroom of the DoubleTree Hotel, on the Avenue of the Arts in downtown Philadelphia. Admission is $25, and includes a drink ticket and hors d’oeuvres. We recommend buying advance tickets, as this event will be highly attended.
